Modern Vintage

Vintage fashion is the new trend. And as ultimate bargain hunters, we rejoice!

If there's one word which best describes the latest buzz in the fashion industry at this very moment, it is 'vintage'. It has become the ultimate trend actually.

This post is a second feature, check Tina's version:

As for my take about this, who says vintage can't be modern? We can help you rock a vintage look just by adding the right amount of contemporary pieces in your outfit.

The vintage piece: a top with lace and Peter Pan collar in bubble gum shade.

The look:

Vintage Bubblegum Top: UK! este ukay, (thrift store)
White Shorts: Given by a friend, (it does not fit her daw)
Booties: Payless
Shades: Japan Home Plus (who would have thought, right?)
STYLE TIPS:

*Set one vintage piece as a focal point in your outfit.

*If you are going for a vintage basic, pair it up with modern accessories to make it up-to-date still.

*Think of accessories in neutral shade that will complement with the vintage garment.

*If you opt for vintage accessories like bag, shades or shoes, wear a contemporary basic like a white dress. It will balance off the look, drawing more attention to the accessories and not to your outfit.

*The trick is to actually set balance, else it would look like you are donning a costume. (that's basically the worst case scenario)

The advantage of vintage is that you can find something that no one else has and can buy, which will make your look, unique and original. (not to mention, you are  also able to save money by buying vintage)

White shorts! It is a versatile piece that every frugalista must have. :)

These booties shout: "pair me with anything and I'll rock it."

Love,

Corporate Chic

Dress for success and of course for less! Let us inspire you with a corporate chic ensemble for a business casual work environment that will surely wow your entire office.

STYLE TIPS:

*Invest in classic garments that will never go out of style .

*Choose interesting colors, patterns and cuts that will compliment your body type and personality.

*Mix and match is a style advice that we'll never get tired of saying.

*Get creative with the classics like crisp button down top, slacks, pencil skirt, blazer, etc.

*Dare to go with a ruffle collar, animal print, bright colors, or cropped cuts as well.

To add color, I am picking orange to brighten up my look a bit since my top, pants and bag are dark colored. This is actually a perfect opportunity to add flavor to a rather conservative business look.

This pair of shoes is surprisingly lightweight and comfortable despite how high it looks like. Wearing heels would actually give an impression that you are dressing up professionally at work. Not only that, it can do wonders to your posture.

Feeling that extra oomph with this great combo.

A confession: the slacks that I am wearing is actually my husband's old pants which no longer fits him since he gained weight. Frugality strikes again. (wink)

This versatile piece should go with pretty much any business pants, short or skirt.

Great way to show sophistication: ruffles! Maybe when you think of ruffles, you might think of a frilly flower girl dress. But think again: ruffles are a match for us grown-up ladies too!

Thank you for reading! :)

Pretty in Peplum

Love it or hate it. Peplums are here to stay. They look absolutely stunning so we thought of having a feature for this well loved piece that hit the fashion world by storm.

Well actually, you can fake out the peplum look. A frugal way of doing it is choose a tunic which you pair with a bandage skirt. You won't be needing to buy new clothes if you would want to save but keep up with the trends.

STYLE TIP:

A peplum can be tricky, on some women it looks amazing, but on others it’s the least flattering thing they can wear. Choose what fits your body type. Balance the trend with what actually looks good on you.

Wear it with a statement making belt and a neutral shoes for a trendy work or date outfit.

Work this outfit by simply adding a cardigan, you may opt for a gray tone or a colorful one.

Until our next post, keep posted!

XOXO,
